Le Thor was guided by the legends, but also by the history whose certain vestiges still remain, within the four corners of the communal territory. The first act of our territory goes up to the Roman time. During the centuries, Baronnie of Thor was constituted, passing between the hands of big families of Provence (Counts of Barcelona, Counts de Toulouse, Families Amic de Sabran, Albert de Boulbon, de Villars, Moussy-Cadard, Ancezure and Grammont), but also joining the bosom of the Holy See.

During the centuries, the community built its identity and its culture. Initially capital of Garance, it will become the World Capital of the Grape of Table.

The Thorois inheritance today still testifies, of this rich passed time, and this culture that made of Le Thor the jewel of the Country of Sorgues.
